After an exhausting hike, 390+ feet from the bottom of the river gorge up an old trail, I found my way to the top of the New River viaduct to finally check out the view from above. It wasn't long before NS 177 showed up and started its journey over the impressive 1,168ft span. |

NS SD70M #2617 sits dead and crewless blocking the main at Oneida, Tennessee. The trailing SD70 was idling away but it appears this unit has quit doing the job. Photo was taken at 1:28pm, train was still dead on the main when I drove back through at 6:49pm. Regardless, it was nice seeing a EMD SD70 series duo on the point of this freight. |

NS 196 charges through Spring City, Tennessee about to pass a clear signal displayed on vintage searchlights from the original Southern Railway. Those searchlights aren't the only original piece of the Southern Railway in this picture...trailing third out on the train is a now rare GP38AC of the former Southern. This unit would be set off in Emory Gap about 20 miles north of here for use on the local, NS T36. A D9-40CW leads the charge with an ex-Conrail standard cab SD60, #6700, the class unit second out. |

They just passed a loaded autorack, normally higher priority in the siding.
