Description:
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9525, #9641-B, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9525 is an EF-15 constructed in July of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in August of 1966. #9641-B is an EF-15A built in March of 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They're pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. Note the two dwarf signals in the foreground and the 4th Street Footbridge in the distance. PRR 5791, EP-22, 1965
Description:
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. In the foreground (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5791 and two more units whose road numbers are not visible. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5791 was constructed in May of 1952. They're pulling an eastbound mail & express train and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. In the background, note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 has halted. Partially visible in the right distance are some of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shop buildings. PRR 8619, AS-18M, 1965
Description:
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. At the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8619, an AS-18M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in August of 1956 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It's pulling a mixed-cargo train under the 7th Street Bridge and is headed to the Hollidaysburg Yards. Note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 is still waiting!
