ERIE 4-6-0 #875 camelback |
Description: |
Here is the camelback version of the 4-6-0 ten wheeler, a much different configuration. Do note the extended cover for the fireman in the back. Built by either the Erie Susquehanna shops or Baldwin between 1891-96, this originally was New York, Lake Erie & Western #260, a class G-8, but was transferred to the Erie RR at a later date. The day in July is approximate. Harold K. Vollrath photo |

ERIE 4-6-0 #913 camelback |
Description: |
Built by the Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1901, this camelback ten-wheeler type locomotive was a class G-12 with 62" drivers, developed 200 psi boiler pressure and had a respectable tractive effort of 27,217 lb. Note the open and unprotected fireman's position in back. That would have been difficult working conditions. The day in February is approximate.Harold K. Vollrath photo |

Old 4-6-0 sits at Rails West Museum. I don't see any 4-6-0s with this # in my referance materials. Probably built early 1900s. Retired early 50s then donated in 1965. |
