Great Western Sugar steam-Davenport SN 1950 |
Description: |
Pictures of the last fired industrial steam operation, Great Western Sugar in Ft Morgan. This operation used steam through 1983, and kept engines in reserve until 1987. There were no numbers assigned, so I'm going by their builders numbers. This is the former Brighton engine, used as a backup to 2148. |

Title: |
Great Western Sugar steam-Davenport SN 2148 (the last one) |
Description: |
This is the engine that made the final run of a fired industrial steam locomotive, in 1983. The engine was kept serviceable until 1987, and is now the 'sign' for Western Sugar's Ft Morgan plant. When I was there, there was no telling when or if they would fire one up, so I was happy just to get a chance to see them, even cold. These weren't tourist engines, but working steam. |
