Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Class HT-10A 170781 at Galesburg, Illinois on an unknown day in November 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The April 1955 issue of the Official Railway Equipment Register ( ORER ) shows a total of 1,850 CB&Q Class HT triple hoppers numbered 170000- -171849. The following is from the book, CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, by Michael J. Spoor: The ( CB&Q ) Havelock shops manufactured 2,500 triple hoppers between 1948 and 1951. The cars had a 70-ton capacity, offset sides, and AAR cast steel trucks. The first carr were designated HT-10 and numbered 170000 - 170499. In 1951 a second batch of 600 cars, classified HT-10A, rolled out of Havelock ( #'s 170500 - 171099 ).
