This is actually a PA2 Phase II, Alco never built a PA3, the PA2's Phase ii's had Farr Grills, new water cooled turbo chargers, and new fuel-injection. The rear port porthole was also eliminated.

Another strange thing that's not true, is that the location is all wrong. The MoPac didn't have a line into Az eather. I've seen to many reffered to Az. and it's a mid west RR co or one up in Wa.

Remove that "Scottsdale, AZ" location! My first guess is Louisiana; maybe the early-mid 50's ORLEANIAN...Guess #2 is MISSOURI RIVER EAGLE. LOve the shot nevertheless

The train is the southbound Sunflower out of Omaha. The picture was taken at Union Nebraska. Stout has a pic of same train in his book
