General
While "The General" is arguably the most famous locomotive ever due to the "Great Locomotive Chase" and the great Buster Keaton film, its real historical significance is that it was the first 4-4-0. I've seen the "real" General (there is apparently some doubt whether the preserved one is actually the real The General or another Atlanta & West Point 4-4-0) - its in Kennesaw, Georgia at a railroad museum there. Its nice, but it may have been nicer if they choose an N&W locomotive to put there - The General had nothing to do with Virginia and the N&W had several fine choices - kind of similar to the mural in Bethel, North Carolina - a wonderful mural of a Southern 4-6-2, but kind of out of place along what was historically the Atlantic Coast line. It is a nice addition to Shenandoah though - good to see a town embrace railroads like that!

General
A Class J would have been way more appropriate there!
