This was the west side of the former Illinois Central freight station at Baton Rouge, as viewed from the south end. We are at the intersection of South River Road and Mayflower Street, facing northeast. The ICG main line between Baton Rouge and New Orleans is right on the other side of River Road, and the Mississippi River levee was directly behind the photographer. The building was later incorporated into the short-lived CATFISH TOWN development, and has since been incorporated into the BELLE OF BATON ROUGE CASINO. |
