Top Photo, Partial Caption: "This is the New York-Washington-St. Louis 'St. Louisan' crossing the Little Juniata River in central Pennsylvania." Prominent here is PRR engine #5901, an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in September of 1945, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "This three-unit, 6,000 horsepower diesel-electric freight unit is shown pulling a fast, through train near Chicago." Prominent here is PRR engine #9465, an FF-20 built by Fairbanks-Morse in January of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962. |
