Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Shown here (F to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7018 and three more diesels. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. Among them is #7126, built in June of 1957. In this context, they're rounding the Curve with a mixed-cargo freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. (#22 of 39) |
