NEGS 2370 sits back on two rails after being righted by side booms and other equipment the day before. The engine was heading light clearing the tracks when a ice dam possibly caused by sleds(snowmobiles) caused the engine to derail and slide down the embankment to the right(photographers right) the good news is the conductor was not injuried the engineer was taken to the hospital with head and leg injuries but was released a few days after and the engine spilled just around 100 galons of diesel. The engine was moved south into a more accessible spot for the insurance company and mechanics to look over it to see if it can run again the day after this photo was taken. |
