The railfans assembled on the Pepper Street overpass at Union Pacific's West Colton Yards east end get a friendly wave from the cab of Amtrak P42DC 156 as it leads a special train toward Cajon Pass and, eventually, Tehachapi and Bakersfield. In a nice touch of class, Amtrak sent one of their Fortieth Anniversary Heritage units (the 156) west to lead the Pacific Railroad Society’s 75th Anniversary special. (The second engine in the consist is Amtrak Dash 8-32BWH 510.) |
