The yard at Junee from the south. PNA 81-class units"move ahead to their train; they'll take the grain hoppers to the left out of town at 6PM. Junee has been an important railroad town since the late 1800s, both for local operations in the grain-rich Riverina region and as a locomotive base for trains assaulting the Bethungra Spiral to the north. The yard is home to both Pacific National and Qube Logistics operations now; the roundhouse, built in 1947, is located just south of town and hosts a museum and Junee Railway Workshop, a contract maintenance outfit. |
