Old School Power   Contributor's Pick!
In an era where high horsepower, widecab six axle locomotives rule the mainline, occasionally you get a flashback to the past on locals and yard jobs. In this case, here we see a brace of three former Southern high hood GP38-2's working the P&G Yard in the Cincinnati suburb of Elmwood Place. While the leader wears the latest NS "Horsehead" scheme, the two trailing units wear the older style NS paint and logos, complete with "CNOTP" initials still intact under the cab numbers. And yes, the sound was AWESOME!

Kevin Shanesy General Nice pic! I took a pic of this high hood loco a week ago in Lockland, OH. When I first heard the horn I was not quite sure what was coming up the tracks! Lol. Saw another one of these Hugh hoods that still had the old NS stripes on it :-) 6/3/2014 9:21:43 AM
