The New York Subways 5 Line, dubbed the Lexington Avenue Express, operates between Flatbush Avenue – Brooklyn College in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and Dyre Avenue in Eastchester, Bronx. The Gun HIll Road station is located on a section of the 5 Line (from East 180th Street to Dyre Avenue) that was once the mainline of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway, a standard gauge electric commuter railroad built by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The NYW&B ceased operations in 1937, and this line ended up as part of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT), which eventually became part of New York Citys iconic subway system. This northbound train is lead by Bombardier R142 car 6761, with R142 7061 on the rear. In the distance can be seen an approaching southbound 5 Train. |
