Yard Power. Here is an original photo that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in July of 1960. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7922, an ES-12 switcher built by GM-EMD in November of 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. In this context, the crew is "flat humping" a string of freight cars in the Yard. Discernable at the right is the roof of the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop. Photo taken near the Yard Master's Office, at the very eastern end of South Juniata Street. |
