| Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Prominent here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8614, #8609, #9866, #9852-B, #9641-B, and #9860. #8614 and #8609 were built by the American Locomotive Company in 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8614 is an AS-24M, but #8609 is an APS-24MS; they are serving as front-end helpers in this context. #9866, #9852-B, #9641-B, and #9860 were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9866 is an EFP-15 built in August of 1952. #9852-B is an EFP-15 built in June of 1952 and retired in October of 1967. #9641-B is an EF-15A built in March of 1950. And #9860 is an EFP-15 built in July of 1952. They're threading the interlocking at 14th Street with a 95-car iron-ore train on their way to the Hollidaysburg Branch turnout, after which they'll follow the New Portage Branch line up the Allegheny Mountains ~ via the Muleshoe Curve ~ to Gallitzin and the steel mills of Pittsburgh. Also visible (L to R) are the Altoona Passenger Station, the 12th Street Footbridge, a westbound passenger train about to depart, an eastbound passenger train in the process of departing, and several of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shop buildings.
