New Orleans Public Belt number 33 was on e of three 900 horsepower switchers built for the railroad in December 1937. NOPB 31-33 were among the very first diesel-electric switchers built by Baldwin specifically for a customer. They cost $89,870 each and the 33 was the last one in operation. All were retired and scrapped in 1970. (approximate month and day) |
