Smoking brakes meant poor maintenance by the PC, CTR!!! Fabulous photo by your friend, Harv Kahn!!!!!

I worked here as a PC fireman,then CR engineer on the Jersey Div.What you see there is the sanders going.Engineers stretched braked going into Waverly yard,that's not engine brakes.As for maintenance, I can't remember engine failures on the road. PC did a good job as best as possible under the conditions we had.I worked for ATSF (
