Here is the first of the class 1040 built by Alco-Schenectady in 1912 with the fireman at his window. Specs - serial #50553, class 1040, 69" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 260,500 lb, tractive effort of 40,805 lb. Later the Frisco shops rebuilt them into oil burners with not much change in the tractive effort.
