Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Tom Smart that was taken in Louisville, Kentucky, on 31 July 1960. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9828 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9828 is an EF-15A constructed in June of 1951 and retired in December of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. The number of the N-6B cabin car at the right is not recorded. ("Tchowee"; #25 of 40) |
