Amtrak Train No. 1         
On the day after Christmas 1977 former CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR sleeper-lounge-observation car 9251 SILVER PENTHOUSE was bringing up the rear of the westbound SUNSET LIMITED as the train was pulling out of New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The 12-car train consisted of SDP40F units 619 and 542, baggage car 1172, high-level coaches 9931, 9958, 9955 and 9902, coach 4461, dormitory-lounge car 3393, diner 8031, sleepers 2619 PACIFIC MEADOW, 2505 BLUE MOTT and 2634 PACIFIC SLOPE, and SILVER PENTHOUSE.
