Caltrain 912 gets ready for departure time as a catenary pole watches over the scene. As Caltrains F40s reach 35 years of age, Caltrain put a plan into action to electrfy Caltrain, and catenary poles have popped up on the Caltrain Peninsula Subdivison from San Francisco to Santa Clara, and on UPs tracks from Santa Clara to Tamien, the next station past Diridon. While diesels handle services for now, Caltrain plans to be completely under wire by 2022, with new electric passenger sets running at 79 mph over the Peninsula. |
