WB. Here is an image of a photo that was taken near Kittanning, Pennsylvania, c. 1912. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3391, a K-2 (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata as a K-2 during July of 1911, later rebuilt as a K-2S, and retired in February of 1947 after 36 years of faithful service. Apparently, this train became stalled in an impassible snowdrift and several crew members froze to death! The names of the photographer and the shivering crewman, as well as the exact date and the location, are not recorded. William E. Burket Collection. |
