WB. Here is an image of a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in November of 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5508, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata in December of 1945 and retired in March of 1952 after just seven years of service. It's stopped at the Passenger Station with a mail and express train, awaiting orders to begin the climb up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. William E. Burket Collection. |
