PRR Westbound Pushers, c. 1951
Baera 2. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken from the 12th Street Footbridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1951. Prominent here is an A-B-A set of Pennsylvania Railroad diesel-electric locomotives serving as pushers on a westbound freight train. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. Visible at the left are structures belonging to the PRR's 12st Car Shops; in the distance is the 17th Street Bridge; at the right is the Passenger Station's trainshed.
