| Nice dramatic photo by C.C. Grayson of Illinois Central 2-8-2 Mikado #1990 built by Baldwin in January of 1923. The loco was rebuilt and renumbered in February of 1943 to IC #1478 and again in March of 1954 to IC #1693. After 32 years of service, the loco was retired and scrapped in 1957. ebuilt specs - 63 1/2" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine wt of 308,500 lb, tractive effort of 65,868 lb. No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. |
