CSX 707 heads back to coal country
3.11.2024 CSX 707 on the lead of an enemy coal car consist as it crosses the Mechum River Bridge west of Charlottesville, VA. From here the next 12.3 miles is a climb up the steep Blue Ridge grade to the Blue Ridge Tunnel. Even with 220+ empty coal cars, this train will be slowed to ~25mph by the time it hits the tunnel, down 1/2 the speed of when I photographed it.
